Aubrey Drake Graham is an internationally recognized Canadian rapper, platinum selling recording artist and entertainer. People call him the "6 God" because he reps the city Toronto, which is called the "6" after the 416 area code. His father is African American, a native of Memphis, Tennessee and his mother is Jewish Canadian. He was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on October 24th, 1986 and first started out as an actor on the highly-successful TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation. He soon rose to fame as an apprentice of his mentor Lil Wayne, also a famous rapper, and started creating chart toppers like "Hotline Bling" and "One Dance". His latest release, "More Life", is his 7th consecutive chart topping project including artists like Quavo (Migos), Kanye West, 2 Chainz, and PARTYNEXTDOOR.
One of his best accomplishments, I believe, is that since his debut hit, "Best I Ever Had", debuted on the Billboard chart in 2009, Drake has always been on the chart up until recently in August. This makes Drake the first artist ever to log eight straight years on the Hot 100 song chart. His unprecedented run of 431 consecutive weeks is just ahead of his mentor's by 105 weeks at 326. He has built out OVO from a small-scale blog about his crew to an all-encompassing lifestyle brand, including his clothing company, his record label OVOSOUND and his annual OVOFEST. OVO stands for October's Very Own as he was born in October; his clever logo also is an owl with the acronym hidden within the owl's face. Drake is my all time favorite artist because I can relate to his song lyrics, I also love the type of flow and rhythms he and his crew create.
